Mark Pritchard - Stratified Medicine
Mark Pritchard is Professor of Gastroenterology at the University of Liverpool and Head of the Department of Cellular and Molecular Physiology. He is also an honorary Consultant Gastroenterologist at Royal Liverpool University Hospital where he leads the ENETS (European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society) Centre of Excellence and treats patients who have neuroendocrine tumours (NETs). His research focusses on the role of inflammation (such as that induced by Helicobacter pylori) in the development of gastrointestinal cancers, the pathogenesis and treatment of gastroenteropancreatic NETs and the mechanisms of toxicity of drugs (particularly anti-cancer drugs and NSAIDs) to the GI tract. His research primarily utilizes preclinical models as well as human/murine primary gastrointestinal organoid cultures.
