(QUantitative Early-career Skills Training)
Application Process
Applications should be made via the University’s online system and should include:
- Covering letter (including explanation of your choice of academic sponsors, research theme and skills areas) (maximum 2 pages)
- Statement of support from your academic sponsors (maximum 2 pages per sponsor)
- Your CV, including publications and 3 referees (no limit)
- Outline of your proposed research programme – to include background to and importance of the problem, and research plans (maximum 3 pages)
- Outline of the proposed training plan (maximum 2 pages) *
Duties and responsibilities
- Providing intellectual input and innovative insight required for the development of the research project
- Developing and applying a broad range of techniques in order to pursue the research objectives
- Active engagement in the dissemination of new research results in the form of scientific papers
- Presenting scientific work at seminars within the University and at external meetings where appropriate
- Communicating and collaborating with others to develop the most appropriate methodologies, and to receive training in the use of relevant experimental and/or methodological techniques
- Contributing to the community of Fellows at the University of Liverpool
- Contributing to the national community of MRC SDF Fellows
* Training plans for each candidate must include the following information:
- The current skill set of the applicant
- Which skills are required for the fellowship and why they are relevant to the proposal
- How these skills will be developed to deliver the proposed objectives (e.g. details of formal training courses, collaborative visits, placements, research environment development opportunities, relevant supervisory expertise etc.)
- What skills the candidate will have at the end of the fellowship and how these will benefit their career
- Details of other relevant skills development and/or training needs (e.g. career development skills, mentorship, professional skills, supervision of staff, networking, transferrable skills etc.)
