Harish Poptani is Professor and Chair of the Centre for Preclinical Imaging at the University of Liverpool, UK. He has been developing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetic resonance spectroscopic (MRS) methods for diagnosis and monitoring treatment response in cancer and in brain disorders since 1990. Much of his research has focused on the use of imaging technologies in understanding disease in animal models or human pathologies
Recent research has focused on developing multi-modal imaging techniques to evaluate the safety and efficacy of stem cell-based therapies in kidney and liver disorders. Specifically, he is developing novel molecular imaging methods for cell tracking and evaluating organ function.
