Steven Lane is Lecturer in Medical Statistics. His main research interest is in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics modelling. The data obtained from these models can then be used in two ways.

• To estimate personalised dosing regimens using stochastic control algorithms, to determine the optimum dose to achieve a required target, for example, plasma concentration. The overall aim is to improve the effectiveness and safety of the drug.
• To estimate the economic cost of specific drug regimens based on their pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamics profiles and to investigate the added cost of compliance/non-compliance on the cost/effectiveness of treatments.
