Catrin Tudur Smith - Statistics

Catrin Tudur Smith, Professor of Biostatistics, undertakes applied and methodological research in clinical trials and evidence synthesis. Catrin has contributed statistical expertise to a number of Cochrane systematic reviews including a suite of Individual Participant Data (IPD) reviews in epilepsy. She is co-convener of the Cochrane Statistical Methods Group. She has conducted methodological research to improve methods for meta-analysis of time-to-event data, network meta-analysis, and more recently the meta-analysis of joint modelled data. She is particularly interested in the benefits of IPD for evidence synthesis and has published a Cochrane review of empirical comparisons between IPD and the more traditional aggregate data approach to meta-analysis. She also leads research to improve the sharing of IPD from clinical trials and Chairs the UK Clinical Research Collaboration Network of Clinical Trials Units Participant Data task and finish group.
